The Iowa National Guard held a send off ceremony today in Denison for the 120 guardmembers who’re being deployed to Southwest Asia. Staff Sergeant Mike Bonham of Missouri Valley was one of the soldiers honored today.He says they’ll be providing security for the forces in Kuwait that’re enforcing the no-fly zones in Iraq. Sergeant Bonham doesn’t expect much trouble. The commander of the Iowa Guard, Adjutant General Ron Dardis, says he’s proud of the Iowa troops and he’s confident the Iowans will do a great job. Other ceremonies were held Tuesday at Camp Dodge in Johnston and in Council Bluffs and Corning. The troops include soldiers from Atlantic, Council Bluffs, Carroll, Clarinda, Corning, Denison, Glenwood, Mapleton and Shenandoah.
