I-S-U Textiles and Clothing professor J-R Campbell says First Ladies have the nation’s eye and often influence fashion. Campbell has his doubts about the possibilities in the new White House.Incoming First Lady Laura Bush is expected to wear a long, red, sequined gown with a plunging neckline to the inaugural balls, a dress designed by Texan Michael Faircloth. Campbell says it’s a good idea for Mrs. Bush to branch out to wear something that is out of her normal realm.He says it’s possible something from Washington this weekend will set a fashion trend but doubts anything will top Jackie-O’s pillbox hat.
