A hands-on exhibit opens today at the Science Center of Iowa that aims to make science so fun, kids won’t realize they’re learning all sorts of things. Kay Hyde is the Science Center’s spokeswoman for the opening of “Science in Toyland.”Hyde says the exhibit is highly interactive and uses a child’s everyday playthings to demonstrate various scientific principles and reasoning techniques. One part of the exhibit is called “Catch the Wind: Set Your Sails” and involves a sailboat and several big fans. Kids try to figure out the best angle of the sail to make a boat cross a lake. The exhibit will be at the Science Center in Des Moines through mid-May.
