A new course will teach emergency crews how to deal with an attack of terrorism. The course was developed by Des Moines University. Tony Mawson is the leader of the project, which was sponsored by FEMA.The course will be offered over the Iowa Communications Network, so “students” can join via a video/audio link. Mawson says it’s designed primarily for “first responders.”While it didn’t originally, the course will include a discussion of how emergency crews and public officials can best respond to an outbreak of “foot and mouth” disease. Tbe course lasts for 45 hours over three weekends. It begins the weekend of June 29th and 30th. The other two weekends are July 20th and 21st and August 10th and 11th.
