Waterloo man faces charges for trying to run down a police officer

May 11, 2001 By admin

A Waterloo man is facing several charges after allegedly trying to run over a Cedar Falls police officer early this morning. Cedar Falls police say 20-year-old Anthony Keys drove his car toward the officer as he tried to get away. Officers were trying to question Keys after getting a call of a suspicious person in the area. The officer jumped out of the way and was not hurt. Other officers stopped Keys’ car and he is charged with second offense O-W-I, driving with a suspended license and assault with intent to cause serious injury to a police officer. Keys was also charged with possession of burglary tools after officers discovered several cars in the area had been tampered with.
