Softball-sized hail did heavy damage Sunday in southwestern Iowa and eastern Nebraska. More than two-dozen aircraft at Eppley Air Field in Omaha were bashed by big hailstones along with more than 200 vehicles parked in the lot. Trudy Jenkins, of Red Oak, returned from vacation to find her car had been demolished. She says the front window was cracked and the damage was everywhere. Another returning vacationer, Todd Luetke of Council Bluffs, says his brand new mini-van was heavily damaged by the storm.Insurance agents in the area are expecting to field a lot of calls today. Windshields were also cracked on at least ten Council Bluffs Police cars.
