The boy’s state high school track meet opens today in Drake Stadium. Iowa City High will be looking for a ninth team championship in the last ten years and the Little Hawks are heavily favored in the team race.City High coach John Raffensperger says he never envisioned the Little Hawks would dominate the state meet like they have in the past decade. He says it’s hard to think you could have so many tremendous athletes.Raffensperger says the coaches have tried to make track and field popular at the school over the years and they have between 90 and 100 kids out every year. The state meet runs through Saturday.
