U-N-I’s Business and Community Services host a grand opening today (Thursday) for a new regional business center in Waterloo. Program Manager Mike Hahn says it will combine services from the Small Business Administration, SCORE, and other established resources.Ten “suites” will provide office space where companies can grow an existing business, or start up a new one with counseling and other help from the experts on a daily basis. The one-stop business center will offer the resources of government help, plus the brains of UNI business educators and a small-business reference library.The center will also house a computer lab and training center. Though the business center is located off-campus, UNI business students will have an opportunity to get hands-on training.The center will offer counseling, business planning, marketing and technical assistance to businesses in eight counties in the Cedar Valley.
