An 82-year-old man died in a farm accident yesterday in rural Scott County. Authorities received a call early Thursday afternoon that a man was trapped in a corn silo. Fire fighters from Bettendorf and LeClaire unloaded the silo with shovels and discovered the man’s body after about two hours of digging. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim, whose name has not been released, had been the object of a three-hour search by family members. Rescue workers believe the man had been on top of the silo, fell in, and suffocated.
