Vandals damage artwork in Cedar Rapids

June 12, 2001 By admin

Grant Wood would not have been proud. Vandals have messed with a downtown Cedar Rapids display artwork that was unveiled last weekend. Four of 29 statues that parody Wood’s famous “American Gothic” painting have been vandalized in the last few days. The statues are spread about Cedar Rapids as part of a program called “Overalls All Over.” Police are asking businesses to keep a closer eye on the statues. They say they don’t have any suspects in the vandalism.
