Council Bluffs Lewis Central junior Jake Hansen’s pitching is starting to attract some attention from colleges. Hansen went 8-0 last season in his first full year as a starter. He’s off to a 10-1 start this year with a 0.47 e-r-a. Hansen says being ready to go each game is a key. He says he has the confidence needed to get people out.Hansen’s pitching has prompted calls from Big Twelve Champion Nebraska and Nebraska Omaha to let him know they’re interested. He says that attention isn’t a distraction, it’s more of a motivator as he wants more colleges to take an interest. Hansen says he’d love to continue playing baseball in college once he finishes his high school career next year.Hansen says his success is also due to a strong team behind him.Hansen has struck out 166 batters while walking only 31 in 75 innings of work this season.
