Iowan charged in murder of Illinois trooper

July 18, 2001 By admin

An eastern Iowa man made his first court appearance on charges he killed an Illinois State Trooper. 20-year-old Jonathan C. Posey of Davenport is charged with two counts of murder in the case. Posey allegedly sped away from a checkpoint with Master Sergeant Stanley Talbot hanging from his car. Talbot fell off Posey’s car four blocks later and was struck by a Rock Island police officer in another car. Investigators say Talbot died as a result of the fall from Posey’s car, not from being hit by the other car.
