Baseball teams look for state tourney berths

The eight spots in next week’s class 1A state high school baseball tournament will be up for grabs with sub-state final action across the state. Top ranked Mason City Newman takes a 37-3 record into a game against Greene.Newman coach Tony Adams says his team needs to relax and not think about their number one ranking. He says they played pretty tight in the last couple of games.Todd Thompson is the coach of Greene. He says they try to take care of their own business and don’t worry about what the other team will do.Thompson says his players don’t mind the role of underdog.
