A new report condemns the F-B-I for bungling another case — the investigation of a government scientist accused of leaking nuclear secrets to the Chinese. Scientist Wen Ho Lee was charged with 59 counts of espionage, but he denied spying, and eventually pleaded guilty to just one count of downloading sensitive material. Senator Charles Grassley says the F-B-I should have looked for other suspects.Grassley says the F-B-I has forgotten the fundamentals of law enforcement.Grassley says others who are guilty of spying for the Chinese may now go free because the trail’s cold.Grassley has been among those calling for management changes at the F-B-I. Lee, who was born in Taiwan, worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
