New coach looks to improve Dubuque football

Vince Brautigam is hoping to take the University of Dubuque football the only way it can go, and that’s up. The Spartans have managed only victory in the last three season’s combined and have not won more than one Iowa Conference game in a season since 1995. Brautigam took over the job after a successful run at Mount Senario College in Wisconsin. He says they now have to change the way people look at the football team.Brautigam says he is excited about the rebuilding job.More than a dozen transfers are part of the program and Brautigam says that has given the Spartans added speed for this season.Dubuque opens next Saturday against Martin Luther College.
