Iowa’s quarterback situation at the end of Tuesday went like this. Kyle McCann is the starter for Saturday’s game against Kent State. Junior College transfer Brad Banks is the back-up and sophomore job Buetjer has quit. The announcement came just hours after Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz tabbed McCann as the opening game starter. the 6-5 Buetjer started four games last season and threw for 841 yards and six scores. Ferentz said last week that Banks would likely see time in the opener.The Hawkeyes have been installed as a 27-point favorite. Kent State is coming off a 1-10 campaign in 2000.
