UNI expert says family time is important

Whether it’s going fishing, seeing a ball game or just catching a movie, Iowans are urged to plan and carry out activities with their families on this unofficial last weekend of summer. Kyle Kostelecky, assistant professor of family services at the University of Northern Iowa, says family rituals help keep families together.Kostelecky recommends family members try to mix both quality time and quantity time.He says it’s important to set differences aside and put family first.Kostelecky says family fun doesn’t require a family vacation. It only takes a little creativity and effort.
