A small charity fund is making a big impact on the lives of women inmates at the Iowa Women’s Prison at Mitchellville. The money is being donated by people across the state so prisoners can take correspondence courses for college credit.State Representative Ed Fallon, a democrat from Des Moines, says he became acquainted with inmate Tracy Hardin, who was convicted for murder and put away for life. Fallon started the fund to send Hardin through the course.A group called Friends of Women Prisoners at Mitchellville is raising money for the fund which is currently helping support the continuing education of 17 women inmates. Donations can be sent to: United Methodist Foundation, 500 East Court Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309.
