Officials at Luther College in Decorah say an attack on a 21-year-old female African-American student Tuesday may’ve been racially motivated. The student told authorities two college-age men knocked her down, hit and kicked her, and made racial slurs. Martin Klammer, a Luther College professor of English and Africana studies, says the attack is disturbing.Klammer says the incident has made minority students wary.He says the college and Decorah community officials are trying to help people become more tolerant and open.The student was taken to the Decorah hospital were she was treated and released. No arrests have been made.
