Architects have scheduled three walking tours in Iowa this month to celebrate some distinctive buildings. Today, the tour begins at noon in Grinnell. Barb Schmidt, a consultant for the Iowa chapter of the American Association of Architects, says Grinnell’s Wells Fargo Bank was designed by founder of the Chicago School of Architecture, Louis Sullivan.An architect will lead the tour. A tour of buildings on the Iowa State University campus is scheduled Thursday and next Tuesday, there will be an architectural walking tour in Pella to examine Dutch-style buildings.Schmidt says there’s a career seminar scheduled Thursday, September 27th in Des Moines to introduce high schoolers to the world of architecture.The students take a trip to an architect’s office to learn about the design process.
