Central looks for share of conference title against Coe

November 2, 2001 By admin

Central College looks to clinch at least a share of the Iowa Conference title this weekend with a visit to Cornell, but the Dutch want to avoid a tie for the title. Cornell, along with Wartburg and Coe are 5-2 in the league race and a multiple tie for the title would invoke the old Big Ten Rose Bowl rule. Under that scenario Central would not earn the automatic spot into the national playoffs because they got it last season. Dutch coach Rich Kacmarynski says the only thing they are focused on now is the chance to win the conference title outright.Kacmarynski says his team will need to play well to get by Cornell.Kacmarynski expects Cornell to bounce back after the Rams suffered a disappointing loss to Coe.
