Now that temperatures have finally dipped below freezing, a western Iowa ski area has been able to open for business. The Mount Crescent Ski Area — near Council Bluffs — opened for the season today, about two weeks later than normal. Owner Russell Lindeman says area ski enthusiasts have been waiting, and waiting and waiting. When temps dropped enough that they could make snow, they got to work and all but the advanced slopes are open for the skiers who’ve been calling and calling.
