The Northern Iowa basketball team returns to action on Thursday with a visit to Indiana State. The Panthers are off to a 3-0 start in the Missouri Valley race after downing defending champion Creighton 85-79 in overtime. Chris Foster had a career-high 25-points as U-N-I earned the early spot at the top of the league race after being picked to finish tenth in the pre-season. Foster says they feel like they belong there and need to keep playing hard.U-N-I coach Greg McDermott felt the win was every bit as big as the victory over Iowa. McDermott says that’s because of the way they came back against a team he says he has a great deal of respect for and a team that’s led the conference. McDermott says Foster was a key to the victory.
