Playing the lottery could give you gas

January 21, 2002 By admin

The Iowa Lottery is reviving a gasoline give-away that promotes an Iowa-made fuel. The campaign called “It’s a Gas” started Sunday, according to Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer.Between now and February 16th, anyone who buys five-dollars or more on one ticket in any lotto game will get a raffle ticket. Winning numbers will be drawn in the raffle on February 19th. There’ll be seven “grand” prizes of one-thousand-40 dollars in ethanol certificates — enough to buy 20-dollars worth of ethanol each week for a year. There will also be several smaller prizes, all which offer ethanol certificates. She says the corn-based fuel is the focus to support Iowa farmers. The winning numbers will be posted next month at lottery retailers and at “www.ialottery.com”.
