A fashion show at a Des Moines shopping mall this morning will feature the work of four designers from Iowa’s sister state in Ukraine, who will sell their original products in Iowa for the next week. Ann Schodde who runs a Des Moines consulting firm and is a former executive director of the Iowa Council for International Understanding says the women are selling their contemporary designs in Germany and France. Schodde says the clothing is primarily for women. Schodde says this exhibition aims to promote cultural diversity and understanding in addition to maintaining relations between Iowa and the Cherkassy region. She says Ukrainian arts and crafts will also be sold at the store. It’s not ethnic clothing but is modern, contemporary clothing made in unusual fabrics. The fashion show begins at 11 a-m. The store will be open at Merle Hay Mall through February 1st during regular mall hours.
