Tickets still available for "Winter Dance Party" in Clear Lake

January 29, 2002 By admin

Organizers say there are a few tickets left for the big weekend “Winter Dance Party” in Clear Lake. The event honors the memory of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and J.P. “Big Bopper” Richardson, who all died in a plane crash February 3, 1959 after playing at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. Surf spokeswoman Linda Vorce says the Dance Party started in 1979.A group of people got together back then and it has grown into an event that draws people from all over the world. Vorce says things get started Thursday night. While you need tickets to get into the events at the Surf Ballroom, Vorce says there is also a band that will play during the day and those performances are free. Vorce says you can find out more about tickets by calling 641-357-6151.
