A-T&T hangs up on part of Davenport business

February 15, 2002 By admin

A-T-and-T is hanging up part of its operations in Davenport. The phone company’s modern Toll Free Directory Assistance office will close in early April. That will put 63 employees, including 55 operators, out of work. They won’t be alone. Nationwide, some 5,000 AT&T employees will be let go in 2002. The cuts are related to restructuring plans. AT&T previously announced it would take a one billion dollar restructuring charge this year.
