Hamilton County voters approve sales tax for new jail

Hamilton County voters Tuesday approved a local option sales tax to build a new county jail and law enforcement center. The measure passed with nearly three out of every four votes. The tax will take effect July first. Construction should begin later this year beside the current Hamilton County Courthouse though plans for the new facility are still being finalized.
