Kmart to shut off the blue light at four Iowa stores

March 8, 2002 By admin

Kmart will close some of its stores in Iowa. The struggling retail giant is closing 284 stores nationwide, and that will include four in Iowa. Kmart says the locations chosen to close make up thirteen-percent of its stores and will mean cutting almost nine-percent of the chain’s workforce. While some outlets and superstores are doing well in strong commercial areas like Urbandale, a store in Des Moines’ north side will close. Also slated for closing on the list just released today are Kmart stores in Fort Dodge, Spencer, Clinton. The bankruptcy court must still give approval.
