The class 3A quarterfinal round is complete at the Boys’ State Basketball Tournament.Saydel was held scoreless for the first five minutes and five seconds of the game in falling behind 9-0 and that played right into Atlantic’s hands. The Trojans controlled the pace and the outcome in a 50-38 victory in class 3A. Junior Bret Meyer led Atlantic with 14-points and says the Trojans used their quickness to counter Saydel’s size advantage.Saydel coach Tom Goodman says after a slow start his was fighting uphill the entire game. He says they knew going in it would be a tough challenge.Goodman says the Eagles could not solve Atlantic’s dribble penetration.Victor Moreno led Saydel with 18-points. It was the first state tournament appearance for the Eagles who close the season with a record of 20-5.
