Departments from all across north central Iowa met on Main Street to do what’s called a “controlled burn” of the former Duncombe Farmers Co-op elevator and an adjoining building. Duncombe Fire Chief Darryl Hansen says it was great practice. The smoke could be seen for miles. More than 350-thousand gallons of water were used in the exercise.
