State takes over Saylorville bridge

A noted central Iowa bridge has a new owner. D-O-T spokesperson Dena Gray-Fisher says the bridge is across Saylorville Lake near Polk City northwest of Des Moines.The state is taking over ownership of what’s known as the “One-Mile” bridge from Polk County, and the county will take over some state roadway. Gray-Fisher explains the reason for the change. the swap involved concerns over long-term maintenance costs. The State Transportation Commission approved the swap this morning at its meeting in Bettendorf.
