Today is being called “Equal Pay Day” in Iowa and across the U-S. Advocate Catherine O’Reilly-Collette says by April, women have earned in 16 months what men earned last year. She says in Iowa, the gender gap in pay is estimated at 36-hundred-47 dollars a year and it’s even worse for women of color.It’s estimated a woman makes 73-cents for every dollar a man makes. The worst ratios nationwide are in Michigan and Vermont where men make on average over five thousand dollars more than women. The most equitable states are Alaska and Missouri.
