Burning banned in Woodbury County

Hot and windy conditions are leading to grass fires in parts of northwestern Iowa. Woodbury County became the first in Iowa to impose a ban on open burning. Gary Brown, the county’s director of disaster and emergency services, says anyone who wants to burn needs to contact their local fire chief. Brown says high winds have been a big part of the problem. He says the dry weather has compounded the problem, along with set aside ground that has material on it that could burn.
