Iowa State and Iowa will close out spring drills tomorrow with intrasquad games. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says it has been a productive spring for his team.McCarney says secondary coach Chris Ash and new assistant Terry Allen will serve as the coaches for the two teams. Ashe will coach the starters and fourth teamers, Allen will have the second and third teamers and will get 20 points to start. McCarney says it will be a game-like situation minus the kicking game.Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz has a number of areas where newcomers will see action. An experienced offensive line is expected to be a strength.This is the time of year when new players can catch the eye of the coaching staff. Last spring it was Dallas Clark who had a solid 2001 season at tight end. Ferentz says a number of redshirt freshmen could play a similar role on defense next season. Ferentz says the starters will play the reserves.
