April 23, 2002 By admin

The action begins tomorrow morning at the Drake Relays with the first-day of the decathlon and heptathlon. This is the second year as director for Mark Kostek who says the experience of having put together one event has been a plus.Kostek says they have added a number of special events all week long in downtown Des Moines in conjunction with the Relays. About nine thousand athletes will take part this week and Kostek says for many, the chance to participate is a challenge. He says it’s “invitation only” and that makes it special.
