Iowa Conference baseball race close in final weeks

Barring a lengthy winning streak by one team, the Iowa Conference baseball regular season looks like it is headed for an interesting stretch run. Buena Vista leads the race with an 8-2 record. Upper Iowa is a game back in the loss column and coach Mark Danker says they are one of a number of teams that feel they can end Wartburg’s run at the top.Danker says the team that plays the most consistent baseball over the next couple of weeks will win the regular season. He says pitching and defense usually decide the championship in the end. Danker says in a race like this every sweep of a doubleheader is big. He says sweeps are big when other teams end up splitting games.Upper Iowa visits Central tomorrow.
