Man charged with Vehicular Homicide after fatal accident

A Fredericksburg woman is dead and a Cedar Rapids man’s in jail after a one-vehicle accident last night near Coggon. The Linn County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened just before 10 a-m on highway 13. According to the Sheriff’s Department, a pickup truck driven by 23-year-old Shane Fettkether of Cedar Rapids went out of control and rolled several times in the ditch. A 22-year-old female passenger from Fredericksburg was thrown from the truck and died later at a Cedar Rapids hospital. Her name has not been released. Fettkether was treated and released, and a 25-year-old male passenger remains in the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Fettkether was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and vehicular homicide.
