Training continues for notaries

May 1, 2002 By admin

Iowa’s Secretary of State is meeting with notaries public across the state to update them on new laws and new training to help them better serve the public. Chet Culver says he hopes to raise the profile of notaries.Their job is to prevent document fraud, which Culver says is important to our commerce and our economy. He says they do a good job day-to-day making sure we attest to the genuineness of these signatures on important documents. Culver says a new law requires notaries to use a stamp or a seal on all documents they notarize. In the past, Culver says there haven’t been enough training opportunities for notaries public. He says he’s working to change that.
