Manchester man invents way to protect mailbox

May 6, 2002 By admin

A Manchester man has come up with a way to safeguard his mailbox in light of the recent mailbox bombs. Floyd Mesch used some see-through material to safeguard his mailbox.Mesch put Plexiglas on the mailbox door and the back panel so you can see what’s inside without opening the mailbox. Mesch says the modification keeps the box safe, and the mail out of the elements. He says some places they’re taking the doors off the mailboxes, which he says would make it easier for people to reach in and steal the mail. The post office is asking that people with curbside mailboxes keep the door to the box open.
