The Iowa Hawkeyes open the Big Ten Conference softball tournament tomorrow morning in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Iowa is the third-seed and will take on the six seed Illinois in their opener. Iowa coach Gayle Blevins says every game in the conference prepared them for the tourney. Blevins is looking for a big weekend from all-time home run leader Alicia Gerlach. A year ago, Gerlach scored a tournament record six runs as the Hawkeyes claimed the championship. Blevins says Gerlach has been a solid citizen and a great player that always puts the team first and does what is asked of her.The double-elimination tournament runs through the weekend.
