Gateway founder says company turning around

Gateway stockholders gathered this week in Sioux City to hear about the future of the computer giant that was rocked last year by financial disappointments and numerous layoffs. Gateway founder and chairman Ted Waitt believes the fortunes will begin to improve this year.Waitt says additional layoffs are unlikely. He says significant layoffs last year have put them at a spot where now it’s time to grow.Waitt says one bright spot this year was the company’s sponsorship of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. He says that dramatically increased the company’s profile in the market for people looking for personal computers.
