Man charged in drowning of teenager

May 24, 2002 By admin

One man’s under arrest in Mason City in the drowning death of a teenager. Mason City police say they’ve arrested 26-year-old Timothy Charles Cassady on charges of supplying alcohol to an underage person resulting in a death. Investigators believe Cassady bought alcohol for minors shortly before they went camping at the Airydale Access on Birch Drive near the Winnebago River. 17-year-old John Steven Naaz was reported missing Monday morning and found dead a short time later. Cassady’s being held in the Cerro Gordo County jail. Supplying alcohol to an underage person which results in death is a Class D felony.
