Two arrested in Davenport murder

May 28, 2002 By admin

Two homeless people have been arrested for a Sunday night murder in Davenport. Being held without bond at Scott County Jail are 28-year-old Jonathan Daniel Hillman of Minnesota and 16-year-old Shannon Elisabeth Breeden of Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Both are charged with first-degree murder and willful injury. The body of a 35-year-old Davenport woman was found near the Mississippi in the vicinity of an encampment of homeless people. Police are not yet releasing her name pending notification of kin. Police say Hillman and Breeden confronted the victim and accused her of stealing food from them. When she denied it, police say the defendants both punched her in the face, pushed her down an embankment, then followed her and pushed her face into mud, resulting in her death. Hillman was also charged with violation of a protective order issued in Minnesota that told him to stay away from Breeden.
