Chemical spill sets off scare in Troy Mills

June 11, 2002 By admin

The toxic fumes from some pool chemicals set off a scare at a scouting campground near Troy Mills that’s about to open for the summer season. A chemical spill at Camp Hitaga sent five people to an area hospital to be checked out as a precautionary measure. A camp spokesman says two men were moving barrels of hydrochloric acid to the pool building when some vapor escaped through a loose valve. No injuries were reported.
