Electrolux workers sweep up new deal in Webster City

June 17, 2002 By admin

Union workers at the Electrolux plant in Webster City approved a new, three-year contract over the weekend. Seventeen hundred people work at the plant, which makes washers and dryers. Contract talks started in April, a tentative agreement was struck Friday and rank-and-file members of the United Auto Workers local 442 approved it Saturday evening. Paul Erickson, the local union president, calls it a good contract. He says the members were happy with the contract as it included increases in wages, pensions and other benefits. The contract will run through June, 2005.
