July 8, 2002 By admin

A mishap with a classic aircraft delayed the start of Sunday’s air show in northwest Iowa.A small plane skidded along the runway at the “Fly Iowa!” airshow in Le Mars after its landing gear collapsed. Pilot George Wilen of Sioux City says he was having trouble with the 1957 Beechcraft. It was some type of electrical problem and the engine didn’t sound right.Neither Wilen nor his passenger were seriously hurt, and the plane had minor damage. The airshow was delayed two hours.
