Identity of dead woman confirmed as Iowan

July 9, 2002 By admin

There was some doubt, but now authorities say an eastern Iowa woman did die in a car wreck in western Illinois. A Bettendorf woman who died in a fiery crash last week in Galesburg, Illinois, is being identified. Knox County authorities say dental records have confirmed that 30-year-old Gina K. Skarda died in the crash. Police say Skarda was eastbound in the westbound lane of U.S. 34 at 5:44 a.m. last Wednesday when she collided with a semi. Both vehicles burst into flames, and Skarda died at the scene. The truck driver was not seriously hurt.
