An official with the Catholic Church in northwest Iowa was arrested on federal charges Monday. The Sioux City Journal reports 56-year-old Daniel Frank DeLong is charged with giving false information on financial statements in 1999 and 2001. F-B-I agents reportedly arrested DeLong near the Catholic Diocese office in Sioux City, which houses his office as editor of the diocese newspaper, The Globe. The indictment comes from the U-S Attorney’s office in Oakland, California, where DeLong was convicted in 1986 for lying on a bank loan application. He got five years probation and was ordered to pay 44-thousand dollars restitution. The new indictment claims DeLong fudged on his recent financial statements, to get out of paying those debts, saying he was making no money and living with friends.
