Boswell favors arming pilots

July 10, 2002 By admin

The U-S House is scheduled to vote on a measure today that would allow pilots to carry guns in the cockpits of commercial airplanes. Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell supports the idea.Boswell, a democrat, says the men and women flying the planes are competent, and can be trusted with guns.Boswell is a commercial pilot himself, and says we already trust the pilots with our safety and can trust them with guns. As a passenger, Boswell says he’d want the pilots armed if there were trouble.President Bush is against the idea, but it’s favored by House Republican leaders.
